Caroline Colom Vasquez is an artist and designer living in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas. Her company, Paloma's Nest, is dedicated to creating Handcrafted Modern Heirlooms -pieces for the home and for the heart. Caroline is perhaps most known for inventing the original Ring Bearer Bowl™, and her works are intended to be passed on for many generations to come. Here she shares her thoughts on tradition, inspiration, and the process behind her designs.

Kristin & Jarett’s Custom Bouquet Text Tile

Our clients, Kristin and Jarett, selected a Custom Bouquet Text Tile with gold leaf edge, to embellish the bride’s bouquet at their summer Southampton wedding. Wedding planner Lisa Green of Anderson Green Events in New York City tended to all of the details, as captured by photographer Craig Paulson. We hope that the personalized piece will become a treasured heirloom as Kristin and Jarett begin their lives together- just as Craig’s stunning images of their wedding day surely will be! Congrats!

Ashley Baber, one of Atlanta’s finest wedding and event planners, collaborated with the amazing David Murray Weddings photography team to produce this fresh engagement session which was recently featured on Style Me Pretty. Book Bindery Style iPad and iPhone Cases by Pad and Quill

These clever,  innovative iPad and iPhone covers are by the brand Pad and Quill. Each “engineered” wooden case is covered, by hand, in a real “book binding” by artisans in Minneapolis. So smart!

Impure Vessels: The Work of Artist Deborah Brackenbury

My newest find is artist Deborah Brackenbury of Impure Vessels, who creates bowls, planters, and other objects from colored concrete. I love how raw & rough the material appears, but the way it is worked creates a stone-smooth surface.  Add the soothing color palette &  patterning of Deborah’s pieces, and this work moved quickly to my “must collect” list!

Sending our Help and Hope to Haiti

As some of you may know, my father-in-law is an ambassador living and working in Haiti. He was there when the earthquake struck in January of this year, and the ongoing crisis and rebuilding of Haiti is something our family takes very seriously. My husband has the opportunity to travel to Port- au-Prince in the coming weeks, to visit with his father and witness the conditions there.

Since January, we at Paloma’s Nest, have been collecting funds from the sale of our TODAY I WILL… tiny text bowl to donate to the rebuilding efforts in Haiti. We are proud to announce that we have raised well over $500 to donate to relief efforts in Haiti, and my husband will be able to personally see that the money gets in the hands of those who need it most. Thank you to all who ordered this item, and in turn helped us to help Haiti.

Wood Doily Clock by Uncommon

I am always intrigued by work that blends traditional materials with modern tools and techniques. Uncommon, a collaborative effort of the husband and wife team Vincent & Jessie, does just that, in their collection of furniture and room accents. I love the blend of simple and intricate in this Wood Doily Clock.
