Middleburg Folk Art Studio

Posted on March 10, 2010 | 2 comments

Middleburg Folk Art Studio creates whimsical sculptures- in the form of cake toppers, garlands, ornaments, and more- all made from paper mache in a simple and timeless folk art style. Artist Susan Havens-Morris crafts the pieces from recycled newspapers in her century-old farm house studio in North Carolina.

Susan's work is inspired by history and antiques, both in style and in crafting techniques. The collection includes  wedding items, very clever historical figurines, and a Handmade for the Cure Breast Cancer Series, from which a portion of every sale is donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

A piece from Middleburg Folk Art is a wonderful treasure. Each year I give my daughter one of Susan's  "Birthday Girls" - always a finely crafted piece that will be cherished long into the future. What art pieces or treasures do you collect to enjoy today and pass on tomorrow?

What a special keepsake to have from your wedding day. Mine has already passed but maybe I can get one for a different occasion.
